Dennis Gonzales was one of Metrobank Foundation’s Awards for Continuing Excellence and Service (ACES) awardees of 2009. A past winner of the Metrobank Art Competition who has shown exemplary performance in his field, he was also a Finalist in the Philip Morris Philippine Art Awards for three consecutive years, the Shell National Art Competition for four and Jurors' Choice in the Art Association of the Philippines Annual in 1999. It is this consistency in pursuit of creative excellence that led to him being awarded in 2003 as one of the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Thirteen Artists Awardees, one of the most prestigious plums in the country for young contemporary artists. In 2004 he mounted a solo exhibition at the Red Mill Gallery as part of his residency in the Freeman Asian Artist Fellowships in Vermont Studio Center, USA.
A graduate of the Fine Arts program of the University of the Philippines, Gonzales has held well-received one-man exhibitions in Kulay Diwa Gallery, Tambayang Makiling Art Space, West Gallery, Boston Gallery, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He has also participated in notable group exhibitions with Valentine Willie Fine Art, Asia Art Link, Taksu Gallery, Art Triangle and Art 40.General Hardware Contemporary Gallery in Canada.Aside from shows in the local NCCA Galleries, Kaida Gallery, Pinto Gallery, the Ayala Museum, Jorge Vargas Museum and Metropolitan Museum of the Philippines, he has presented his paintings in Taiwan 101 Tower in Taipei, Vietnam Fine Art Museum in Hanoi, Malaysia National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, Thailand’s Chulalung Korn University Museum in Bangkok and the Singapore Art Museum
